Old Varndeanians II vs Keymer & Hassocks
Somerville Cup

In extreme heat Keymer & Hassocks visibly wilted yet still managed to progress to the final of the Somerville Cup with a 2-1 win away to Old Varndenians.

OVs adapted to the conditions somewhat better and had majority possession in the first half taking the lead with a speculative shot which deceived keeper Neil Smith. They also forced a number of testing corners with Smith making some vital interceptions to keep them at bay.

K & H drew level with their only bit of quality in the half - a 4 man move which Gregor Ross finished in style.
With the wind at their backs after the break K & H expected better but once again OVs dominated although they failed to capitalize on their superiority.

Extra time seemed inevitable until Craig Jackson hit a searching ball deep into OVs penalty area where sub (and K & H MOM) James Harris powered home an unstoppable header from 6 yards.
