Keymer & Hassocks vs Phoenix Utd
Div 1

K & H progressed in the Mowatt Cup overcoming Lindfield 2nds 3-0.

They got off to a flying start with James Brown notching a solo effort after rounding the keeper-the resultant goal celebration was an embarrassment however and a word will be had. With the confidence an early goal brings K & H had much the better of the first half continually asking questions of the Lindfield defence particularly via some probing runs by Duncan O’Reilly who is proving to be an inspiration in midfield. There was some disquiet about the number of offsides being given by the Lindfield Lino however which must have been something of a record.Nevertheless the second goal was no surprise as Fin Fogarty headed home from a superbly flighted Ian Parsons free kick.

The second half saw K & H’s form dip with Lindfield having most of the possession and passing the ball around with ease although they failed to turn that into any really serious chances and the game was settled when Lewis Taylor, who was having a quiet game, showed a flash of class with a strike into the far corner which gave the Lindfield keeper, who had a good game throughout, no chance.

MOM was a  toss up between O’Reilly and Adam Ewens with Ewens just shading it for his all action display until his substitution by reason of looming exhaustion midway through the second half.
