Keymer & Hassocks Football Club. Playing Football in Hassocks at Adastra Park since 2003

Ditchling vs Keymer & Hassocks
Mowatt Cup

However cup games are drawn this Mowatt Cup one was poor pitting last season’s finalists against each other so early in the competition

The pitch was very very wet ,like marshland, which meant players found it difficult to keep their feet at times.Despite that both sides tried to play football and it was a fairly even contest for the first 30 minutes with both sides creating a couple of decent chances but then Ditchling started to get the upper hand towards the end

Jon Ruffle had to come off at half time which undoubtedly weakened the K & H defence and this was compounded when Ben Watson also had to withdraw. As the game wore on Ditchling proved to be fitter and physically stronger than their ageing opponents who started to wilt and were finally undone by two far post headers.

K & H did rally towards the end when they forced a series of corners but the home keeper, who it seems somehow managed to talk virtually nonstop throughout the whole game, pulled off some excellent saves (maybe talking as he made them)

Sadly the sides will still have to meet two more times in the League by which time they will surely be sick of the sight of each other
