Keymer & Hassocks vs Felbridge
Mowatt Cup

K & H overcame a spirited Felbridge side to advance to the next round of the Mowatt Cup with a 3-1 home victory

On a bumpy pitch the game was a bit disjointed as both sides struggled to put any meaningful moves together until James Eddie Emmens (making a rare guest appearance) started to exert influence down the left flank ultimately putting in Robbie Kift but with the goal at his mercy he blazed over. Not to be put off Emmens repeated the feat shortly after with a pinpoint cross and this time it was despatched on the volley into the far corner.Emmens then had the chance of the second as he skipped past the keeper and stroked the ball towards the empty net but as he turned away in celebration this proved to be premature as the keeper managed to scramble back and claw the ball away

Felbridge then hit back with a quality strike of their own from 25 yards which gave keeper Craig Jackson no chance

K & H were content to go in 1-1 at half time feeling they could get the upper hand in the second period but they again struggled to find any form untlil Kift scored a remarkable second hitting a thunderous shot which cannoned off the back stanchion but the Ref was well placed and gave the goal. The game was sealed when Andrew Waterman matched Kift’s effort in quality terms putting an amazing swerve on the ball as he found the top corner.

Also....

3 early contenders for Miss of the season with Kift missing from 2 yards, Eddie Emmens missing an open goal from 6 yards and Gary Thomas shooting with his standing leg from 6 yards.
