Keymer & Hassocks vs Newick
Div 2
K & H turned in a much improved performance on previous weeks as they worked hard for their 4-2 win against Newick.
Both sides went on the offensive from the off with K & H taking the lead when their MOM Matt Thomas forced the ball home from close range.Newick quickly struck back with a perfectly delivered free kick which the Newick forward despatched with a powerful header.Toby Raftery then restored the lead with another close range finish.Jo Davey had to go off when he took a kick full in the face but Phineas Fintan Fogarty proved a more than adequate deputy.
Newick were quickly out of the blocks at the restart but it was K & H who went further ahead-Toby Raftery netting again when the ball fell to him in the six yard box and he then set up number four, hitting a low cross to the near post which Stuart Thompson read perfectly. The Newick keeper nearly got to it but was caught off balance.Newick pulled one back from a well hit free-kick with another firm header.
Stuart Thompson almost hit a fifth but he had too much time on the ball and fired well over, whilst James Handford was impressive after coming on in the 55th minute - providing a lot more movement down the left flank.
