Keymer & Hassocks vs Willingdon II
Div 2
K & H left it very late to overcome a determined Willingdon side 2-1,who were probably justified in feeling they deserved something out of the game.
As usual K & H let their opponents have most of the ball but they looked reasonably comfortable except for a penalty shout early on which the Ref waived away. The opening goal was one of the best K & H have ever scored-involving some clever one touch moves between Gregor Ross Stuart Thompson and Jo Davey the latter finishing with a glorious half volley which gave the very impressive Willingdon keeper no chance.Davey then looked to have set up the second finding Toby Raftery inside the six yard box but inexplicably he missed the chance.
K & H thought they had likely won the game when awarded a penalty in the second half but although Ross struck the ball well the keeper was equal to it.Indeed this seemed to energise the visitors and they started to push K & H back more and more until a run from deep in midfield finally undid them.
Willingdon continued to press for the winner but K & H were not finished as James Harris saw a fine effort cannon back off the bar whilst Stuart Thompson eventually wrapped things up but it needed a deflection to beat the keeper.
K & H MOM went to Robin King who voluntered to step in for the injured Craig Jackson, despite his inexperience everyone agreed he put in an excellent performance throughout.
Dan Southcombe and James Handford did some good work recovering balls from the stream.
