Keymer & Hassocks vs Ashurst Wood
Edgar German Cup
K & H progressed to the next round of the EG Cup with a 3-1 win at home to Ashurst Wood.
They got off to a flying start James Harris scoring virtually from the kick-off with further good chances falling to James Handford and Toby Raftery but they could not convert. The best of these was probably Handfords where from 2 yards out he decided to shoot with his right despite the ball being on his left causing him to look like a one legged man with severe co-ordination issues.
AW however regained their composure and got into the game having plenty of possession whilst taking the game to K & H who seemed to have run out of steam a little.
After the break AW again shaded possession although Jo Davey almost scored with an audacious volley from the halfway line.Harris was to increase the lead with a fierce drive from 25 yards which found the top corner.
AW brought on their number 12 and he made an immediate impression with some tricky runs at the home defence. It was not entirely a surprise when he won a penalty after being tripped in the box.Keeper Craig Jackson managed to save it but was beaten by the follow up.
Davey hit number three from close range converting a fine cross from Dan Southcombe who had been unlucky with a well hit shot which came back off the post.
K & H MOM went to Southcombe for his overall display although he was run close by captain Ben Watson who decided to play in mouldeds on a soft pitch causing him to slide about as a skater with no skates at one point collapsing in a heap and slithering about like a beached walrus.
