Roffey vs Keymer & Hassocks
Div 2
KHFC suffered back to back league defeats for the first time in their short history.
We started brightly against a well organised Roffey side who also started well, knocking the ball about nicely.
The game was tight with only a few chances created.
Alex Newton who in his first appearance for the Club volunteered to go in goal with regular keeper Craig Jackson unavailable. He was understandably a bit nervous at first and this contributed to a missed clearance which left Roffey with a tap in.K & H then worked hard to protect their goal with Dan Southcombe and K & H MOM Dave Edwards both doing well at full back.
Turning around with only a 1 goal deficit K & H thought they might get something out of the game but went further behind when Mike Ridley who up to then had stood firm lost the flight of a long ball and the Roffey forward found the far corner with a fierce drive.
It seemed K & H were to have their noses rubbed in it when a (somewhat harsh) penalty was awarded against them but Newton fully redeemed himself with a fine save.
Although K & H never really threatened none of the players effort could be faulted, including Matt Thomas who never stopped running. All in all Roffey probably deserved victory in a close contest.
