Cuckfield Town II vs Keymer & Hassocks
Stubbins Cup Final
Keymer & Hassocks overcame Cuckfield 2-0 to lift the Stubbins Cup.
Conditions were testing with a hard pitch and strong wind blowing so credit due to both sides for producing an entertaining game.
Cuckfield opened strongly and had K & H on the back foot for most of the first half-neither side created much although Cuckfield had the best chance with a header from a corner but it sailed over the bar.
K & H were a different proposition after the break and with their opponents now having to deal with the wind, started to get forward a lot more.Cuckfield's defence stood firm until Jo Davey scored direct from a corner and went on to secure the win with a solo effort.
Cuckfield pressed hard to come back winning a series of corners but the defence-Ben Watson Troy Raftery Mike Ridley Ian Smith and keeper Nel Smith would not be beaten.
Stuart Thompson was nominated MOM by the officials.K & H's nomination for their own MOM would be a joint one-Thompson and captain Wayne Hamilton for his remarkable work rate.
