Keymer & Hassocks vs Uckfield III
Division 4
Keymer & Hassocks contested a sour, mean spirited 3-3 draw at home to Uckfield in Div 4 providing a testing experience for the Ref who did his best to keep matters under control.
Whilst quality football was in short supply Uckfield deserved to lead by half time although the 2-0 margin was perhaps flattering given an element of good fortune in both goals.
K & H lost keeper Neil Smith at half time through illness and had to reorganise with Wayne Hamilton volunteering to deputise yet still managed to secure a lifeline when Stuart Thompson bundled the ball home from close range. The relief was short lived however as Uckfield consolidated their position with a very well taken third.
Things then went from bad to worse for the home side when defender Ben Watson foolishly reacted to being goaded giving the Ref, producing cards at the rate of a music hall conjurer,no option but to add red to the show.
The game was as good as over at this point until Uckfield quite legitimately seemingly opted to play out time.K & H perhaps feeling there was an element of having noses ruubbed in their misfortunes were only spurred on.
Gregor Ross pulled one back following a fine cross by K & H MOM Myles Eade and with seconds to go James Harris volleyed the equaliser after Robin King had seen his fierce drive rebound off the bar.
