Ardingly vs Keymer & Hassocks
Div 1
K & H have probably played Ardingly more than any other team during their existence and this encounter at their ground proved to be one of the easiest as they appear to be a bit low on confidence just now.
That said they started brightly and their quick young strikeforce got behind the K & H defence and would surely have scored but for a fine save by Gary Thomas.
K & H however were soon settling down and Richard Thompson started to influence matters down the left eventually hitting the equaliser with an effort from 25 yards which the keeper misjudged. He also delivered a number of quality corners ,Ben Watson eventually heading one firmly home at the back post.James Brown then found himself clean through but lofted over whilst Dan Goodrum shaved the post with another strike.
Promising youngster Lewis Taylor came on at half time along with Toby Raftery and Fin Fogarty-Taylor was soon in the action robbing a defender and coolly slotting the ball home.Disaster then loomed as Stuart Thompson was caught on his dodgy knee and had to go off but going down to ten men seemed not to affect K & H as their grip on the game tightened with Goodrum heading home a perfect Raftery cross before Taylor put Raftery in for another albeit probably offside. The Ardingly defence then appeared to panic as the game ran down with K & H spurning a number of good chances before the final whistle blew as they were probably just about to score another with Raftery & Taylor clean through but the Ref decided enough was enough. On that subject a very good technical performance by the Ref but he sadly seemed devoid of any humour.
