Keymer & Hassocks vs Forest Row
Div 1
K & H ground out a 1-0 win away at Lindfield in a turgid game played on a boggy surface which tested both side’s ability to play football.K & H never seem to win at this ground and in fact in recent years have normally been thumped. On this occasion however they settled after about ten minutes and started to attack the Lindfield box-Simon Catford went close but was denied by a smart save.
Toby Raftery opened the scoring from a neat ball into the area by Dan Goodrum his first effort was parried by the keeper but he followed up to finish.Goodrum then went close with a diving header from an Ian Parsons free kick.Lindfield had a couple of tricky players on the ball and made some deep runs into the K & H defence but they managed to keep them from doing any serious damage.
K & H had the slope apparently in their favour for the second half but there turned out to be no such advantage and Lindfield edged possession with K & H attacks becoming something of a rarity. There were lots of high balls pumped aimlessly about the pitch as the game became ever more untidy. So it stayed until the last ten minutes when Lindfield had some good chances-K & H keeper Gary Thomas had to make a brave save to keep one out and was rewarded with a broken nose.Captain Ben Watson agreed to deputise and thankfully was not really tested.K & H did have a late flourish which saw Joe Davey Toby Raftery and Andy Waterman go close but credit to the home defence for some stout defending
