Keymer & Hassocks vs Ardingly
Div 1
A welcome return to action saw K & H overcome Ardingly 2-0 at the Adastra.
The game brought a change of role for Dan Goodrum who started up front and we also welcomed Matt Agate who stepped up from the seconds
K & H started very brightly and had Ardingly on the back foot for the first ten minutes but then roles reversed somewhat as the visitors started to pass the ball around nicely whilst K & H became somewhat ragged.Captain Ben Watson was forced off with a twisted knee so Goodrum dropped back somewhat disappointed at having to give up his dream strikers role
The Ardingly defence seemed to be coping quite well with anything K & H could throw at them whilst at the other end K & H had to deal with a very quick young forward who probably would have been more effective if he had not drifted offside so much
The deadlock was broken when full back Matt Thomas surged forward and hit a shot from outside the area which found the far corner.Troy Raftery added a second with a firm near post header from a perfect Richard Thompson corner.Ardingly’s best chance had earlier been headed off the line by Raftery
The second half featured two good efforts with no reward-James Brown unleashed a fierce drive which the keeper tipped away and Toby Raftery then hit the post.Ardingly looked like they might score a consolation near the end when clean through but the chance was wasted
A really good workout for K & H against a side who never gave up and battled all the way through.Matt Agate was very impressive on his debut particularly when switched to wide right where his ability to get forward and hit quality crosses was a real bonus
