Keymer & Hassocks vs Crawley Portuguese

K & H battled their way to a 1-0 win at home to Crawley Portuguese in a keenly contested game
CP started brightly passing the ball about with ease but K & H were also quickly into their stride as Simon Catford was soon in with a chance but the ball was struck straight at the keeper.James Brown then went on a fine run hitting a sizzler which the keeper managed to fingertip onto the bar and over.At the other end Gary Thomas made a fine save when confronted with a 2 on 1 situation and then pulled off an amazing reaction save as a speculative shot kicked up crazily off a divot
The second half was fairly even with both defences playing well until Andy Waterman came on and immediately found himself in space so he drove forward and unleashed a shot which skimmed the turf and seemed to slip under the goalie’s dive for what proved to be the winner
CP threw everything at K & H for the last 10 minutes and had a glorious chance with a header but it was put wide In the dying minutes it then seemed certain they would force the ball in but somehow Troy Raftery managed an acrobatic clearance off the line and the game was won
MOM went to goalie Gary Thomas for a faultless display
