Keymer & Hassocks vs Scaynes Hill
Div 3
K & H battled through to the next round of the Stubbins Cup with a 2-1 win over Scaynes Hill.
The teams appeared well matched as both mounted early attacks but K & H took the lead when Stuart Thompson picked out Gregor Ross at the far post and he outjumped his marker to head home.
Thompson then hit the second with a headed flick which took a deflection on the way in.
K & H continued to attack and saw Toby Raftery and Thompson denied by some smart goalkeeping .
After the break Scaynes Hill gradually turned up the pressure and the home defence was forced to defend stoutly with centre back Duncan O'Reilly earning K & H MOM.Scaynes Hill deservedly struck when they got behind the defence and keeper Craig Jackson could only parry the shot which another forward put away.
Again Scaynes Hill upped the pace but could not find the equaliser being disappointed when a penalty shout was turned down-while at the other end their keeper made 2 more excellents stops from Thompson & Dave Edwards.
